This year, pink dominated early proceedings on the red carpet. The Oscars 2019 red carpet was filled with more pink, high fashion gowns than sexy, naked dresses. But when it came to the after parties, celebrities made sure to show off their sexiest, most naked looks. From Kendall Jenner’s insane leg slits to an array of sparkling sheer gowns.
On Oscars Night We Wear Pink
Gemma Chan looked stunning in a high-necked Valentino gown that she wore just as it was shown on the Paris haute couture catwalk last month, with an up-do. She looked airily relaxed with one hand in her pocket, in this parachute-light silk with no corset required. This being pink’s night meant high profile for dressed actors Linda Cardellini and Hellen Mirren helmed by designer Bertrand Guyon.
Cardellini wore a dress full of cascading ruffles, cinched in a giant bow. Mirren’s gown was a multi-toned in layers of subtly different sunset shades. Frances McDormand wore a pink gown from the same Valentino collection as Chan’s to present the best actress Oscar to Colman. Maya Rudolph also wore Valentino pink. Angela Bassett and Kiki Layne, in ballet-slipper Versace, both wore their pink long and sculptural. The new generation of pink tulle dresses have a precise, almost spiky silhouette.
It’s About Glamour, Not Fashion
Lisa Bonet and husband Momoa made a double tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, with Bonet in Chanel and Momoa in Fendi, both from the designer’s last collection. Tessa Thompson wore an elegant strapless black Chanel gown. Lady Gaga channeled Audrey Hepburn in a breath-taking, custom sculptural black gown by Alexander McQueen. She paired the look with a 128 carat Tiffany diamond necklace. Rachel Weisz wore a Givenchy pillarbox gown with a red latex cape, set off by an austere-chic Alice band.

The 2019 Oscar after parties were full of the sexiest, naked looks. Zoe Kravits was caught in a Saint Laurent bra top and maxi skirt. Emma Roberts was shining in a see-through sparkling gown. Kendal Jenner brought all sorts of sexy in a Rami Kadi couture gown featuring some insanely sky-high slits on both sides. Laura Harrier stunned in a netted, see-through Louis Vuitton dress. Jasmin Sanders attended Elton John’s Oscar party in a sparkling naked gown. Shailene Woodley and Gemma Chan, both graced the night in sheer dresses. Woodley in a Dior dress and Chan in a sparkling Tom Ford gown. Stella Maxwell looked glamorous in a see-through jewel-encrusted gown.
Best Dressed Celebrities on the Red Carpet
Actress, Charlize Theron stepped out in a freshly chopped dark bob and a backless, dusty blue long-sleeved Dior gown. Constance Wu, Crazy Rich Asians star was a standout in off-the-shoulder custom yellow Atelier Versace gown, complete with Swarvoski crystal detail at the bodice. Jennifer Lopez graced the red carpet in a metallic embroidered mirror mosaic long-sleeved gown by Tom Ford. She looked glamorous for the most glam night of the year. Kacey Musgraves was a standout in a sea of pink, in layered tulle Giambatista Valli Couture with a crystal belt at the waist. Regina King glowed in one of the few white gowns of the evening. She wore an ivory, strapless gown with sculptural hand draping and an asymmetrical train, custome made by Oscar de la Renta.
