2019 Met Gala: The Best Looks of the Night
The Met Gala’s red carpet is known for delivering some of the most daring fashion statements of the year. The Costume Institute Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest event on the fashion fundraising calendar. Founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert, the benefit was first held in 1948 to encourage donations from New York’s high society. A night where the most famous faces from the realms of fashion, film, music and art come together to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition. The night is centered on the theme of the new exhibition, this year’s exhibition theme is Camp: Notes on Fashion. I’m sure everyone was wondering how the A-listers were going to be able to pull this one off. And let me just say there was nothing to be worried about.
The Most Memorable Looks
Harry Styles rocked a flamenco-inspired, gender-fluid look designed by Gucci. The singer wore a black jumpsuit by the label. According to CNN, it was one of the most-searched outfits of the night.
It’s not a surprise that Lady Gaga did not disappoint this year as she has a long history of exaggerated and theatrical looks. Instead of wearing one amazing outfit to the Met Gala, she wore 4 amazing outfits – causing all the media frenzy. She arrived in a voluminous bright pink dress by Brandon Maxwell, she then stripped down to a black gown, pink slip dress and finally into a crystal ball and panties.
Rapper Cardi B showed up to the Met Gala in a dramatic burgundy gown that extended into a full quilted circular train. The dress, trimmed with feathers, was designed by Thom Browne.
Zendaya brought a fairytale to the red carpet. She wore a black Tommy Hilfiger gown, was walking up the stairs when her stylist, Law Roach, waved a wand and transformed her dress into a glowing version reminiscent of the iconic baby blue gown worn by Cinderella.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra stunned the red carpet in Dior. She wore a silver Dior Haute Couture dress with a rainbow feathered skirt and a thorny crown, while Jonas complimented her in a white suit by Dior Men. Both of them wore glittery silver shoes.
Kacey Musgraves was total Barbie vibes on the red carpet in Moschino. Every little detail contributed to making this pink princess outfit look as perfect as it did, from the hair to the makeup and the shape of the tiny sunglasses to the hair dryer purse
