Back to School Trends for Teens
Classes will be back in session in just a few weeks, so it’s time to study up on what trends you should be rocking as you head back to school. From thick stripes to lace-up jeans, you’ll be ahead of the curve for every must-have style this coming fall.
Double Down on Denim
Denim will never go out of style, but the trends surrounding it are constantly changing. This season is seeing an increase in wearing multiple matching denims and even mismatching denim. Try a patchwork denim skirt or a classic jacket and jeans combination. A side tuxedo stripe is a great option for adding a pop of color.
With Stripes, It’s Go Bold or Go Home
Big, colorful stripes have always had a bit of a summer vibe to them, but this year they’re being pulled into the fall with wide-legged jumpsuits and chic blazers. These pieces can instantly elevate a typical back to school look. Add a striped jacket over your standard t-shirt and jeans, or play down a bold striped romper or jumpsuit with a comfy cardigan.
Layer Your Primary Colors
Vibrant colors have been a favorite this season, with many of our favorite fashionistas mixing them in with other trends for a perfect blend of style and comfort. Layer them subtly as the details on a blouse or beneath your favorite overall dress, or be more daring with an energetic pair of jeans.
Bust Out the Overalls
For many, the overalls might be a throwback to the preschool playground, but they’re making their way back into the wardrobes of the fashion forward. You can wear them with a plain tee for a classic statement, or pair them with a printed or graphic top with one button popped for a more casual chic look. As the temperature drops, they’re perfect to match with your favorite statement jacket for an outfit that’s as cute as it is comfy.
Lace-up
One of the summer’s best trends is transitioning into the fall, making it the perfect thing to wear when you head back to class in September. Lace-up garments have been everywhere, from crop tops to shorts to swim suits; this season saw it on every type of garment. As we catapult toward school season, we’ll be seeing this more on jeans and sweaters, but there’s no reason you can’t layer in a few of your summer faves as well.
Monochromatic
If standing out with a vibrant wardrobe isn’t really your speed, the monochromatic trend might be more your style. It’s especially great on a lazy day when you just want to throw on some dark wash jeans and a black turtleneck, but this trend is about more than your basic shades of gray. Mix and match textures and some tall boots in your favorite blue, or style your best jumpsuit with a matching hat and sunglasses.
